Wool felt

I LOVE wool felt!!!!  There are so many things you can do with it.  It's incredibly flexible, you can add it to just about any project you have to create different textures and looks.    Here's a pillow I just made.  Super simple and fast (which is all I have time for theses days)  I think I'm going to make a few more in different sizes.   Hmmm, maybe in blue and white for winter.
 What do you think?

Thanks for stopping by.  Don't forget to enter to win the Aurifil Thread.  Go to the post on Monday. Contest ends on Saturday.

Boy, today went sooooo fast!!  I almost ran out of time to post about this weeks give away.
Here it is.
This week I'm giving away these

Each pack contains the 5 types of threads that are used in the quilting world,  The weights are 50, 40, 28, 12 and a spool of their beautiful wool thread.  So you will be able to try them all.
Pretty cool huh?
I love this thread and wanted to share it with you.

Bloomin' Monsters

Monsters, Monsters, Bloomin' Monsters, they're everywhere!!!
Look at what is hanging at Gracie Lou's in Salem, UT.

Isn't it adorable!!!  This's my Bloomin' pattern with monster applique instead of flowers.  What I great idea.  Notice the different color rick rack in each section too.  The monster squares are from a panel, so now that we see this, the possibilities are endless for this quilt.

Tomorrow is the last day of the contest to enter to win the fabric bundle and magazine.  Go to Aug 20 post and leave a comment.  Don't miss out.

Happy Sewing!!!!

Blackberries anyone?

Yep, blackberries the size of a spoon!   Can you believe how big these are?
These berries can from our garden.  They are just fabulously (I don't know if that's a real word or not) yummy, tart and sweet.   The bush is huge and growing great.
Which is amazing since I can't even keep silk plants alive.

Last year we only got a small bowl full of berries, but this year we are picking large bowls full at least once a week.  I've made a double batch of  freezer jam already and boy oh boy is it delicious!!!!
Note to self: if I want a whole lot of berries picked, don't send the boys to do it.
They eat more berries then they bring in the house.

Note you:  Don't forget to comment on Aug 20th post to enter to win a  Halloween bundle of fabric and magazine. Contest ends Saturday evening.  Good luck to all!

Back to school giveaways start today

Back to school already.  I know I have mixed feelings about it.  Excited that my kids will have new and fun adventures this year, not to mention I will get a whole lot more work done, and sad that they won't be at home all day.   My kids are excited to start a new year, but hate the fact that they are going to have homework everyday.  Oh well, life goes on.

Anyway to start the school year off with a bang, I thought I would do a few give aways in the next few weeks.  So here's the first.

As you know, (if you have been following my blog) Quiltmaker has been doing the Scrap Squad post of "Old Glory" over the past weeks.  So, I thought I would do my own scrappy version of my quilt to share with you, here's "Oh Scary"

I used only the Halloween fabrics I had in my stash for the strips, binding and back.  "Cuddle", (by Shannon Fabric)  was used for some of the strips, kind of a fun way to add texture and variety.  I did have to go and buy fabric for the borders.

Now for the give away...  see this cute little bundle of fabric below with the magazine,
This is the prize.
OK, now this bundle of fabrics is a started kit to make "Oh Scary".  It has all the strips of fabrics I used in my quilt, cut no less.  You add a few strips from your own stash, plus borders and you have your very own Halloween quilt.

Of course you're asking what you need to do to win this, right??  It's very simple.
1.  Leave me a comment on what your favorite school supply is. (mine is brand new ink pens)
2.  Be a follower, if you're not become one.
3.  Cross your fingers

Deadline for this contest is this Saturday Aug 25.
A random winner will be chosen and announced that evening.
Good luck and thanks for playing!

The paws have it

Quiltmakers Scrap Squad is busy again with Jennifer Stevens making a cute version of "Old Glory".  The Scrap Squad is a group of talented quilters who except a challenge to take one quilt from each Quiltmaker magazine and make their own scrappy version of it.  Here's Jennifer's.

Don't you just love the paw prints, very cute and creative.  To buy the magazine click here.  Make your own scrappy version of this quilt and send me the photo.
I will be happy to post it here on my blog.

Summer is almost over

School shopping has started.  Boy oh boy has this summer gone fast, much to the chagrin of my kids.  School starts next week!  Yeah!!!  They are excited about that though.  I got to go buy school supplies.  I do love buying school supplies, there's something just fun about it.
Pencils, notebooks, markers, calendars, pens, highlighters, etc.  Ahhhhh.
I know I'm not the only one out there that loves that part.

With summer break is almost over, I just wish the temperatures would cooperate.  We are at 100' everyday for the past 2 weeks.  I'm done with the heat and ready for some cooler weather.  But, it doesn't look like that's going to happen real soon.  So we'll just keep the fans going 24/7

Heads up, I'm going to be doing some back to school give aways in the next couple of weeks so keep posted.  Until then stay cool and happy sewing!

Cuddle fabrics

I don't know if many of you have used and/or worked with "Cuddle" by Shannon Fabrics.  If you haven't,  you should.  My quilt Garden Critters uses just a bit for the caterpillars.  So don't be shy, try it out and you'll see how much you love it.
Shannon fabrics has tons of different colors and textures.  I'm doing a whole lot with the Cuddle fabrics right now for upcoming projects.  And loving it, by the way.  Go to their Facebook page and see all the fun projects they have done and don't forget to check out their website too.  Let me know what projects you've done with Cuddle.  Thanks for sharing and happy sewing.
