New technique

Quiltmaker Scrap Squad has done it again.  Go over to their blog and see the really neat technique  they have used on "Old Glory", it's so cool.  I love it!!  And if course most of you know how much I love Halloween so this quilt is right up my alley.

Hooked

Have you ever noticed that quilting and chocolate go hand in hand?  When you walk into a quilt shop is there chocolate sitting there just calling your name?  Or when you go to retreats, everywhere you look there are bowls of chocolate?  And I'm good with it, what a better combination, right?
I have my very own stash in my sewing studio.  I keep in hidden actually, so my kids don't find them.  Is that awful or what.  I'm totally hooked on these!
They're my favorite melt-in-your-mouth-creamy-wonderful-chocolate candies.  If you haven't tried these you should.  They come in different flavors too.  My fav is the milk chocolates, I'll warn you now they are addicting and you will get hooked, just like me.
So now it's back to work, after of course I have another.....  Happy sewing

A little bit of Christmas

OK, so July is almost over and I've done nothing for Christmas.....until today.
I decided to get busy on some of my Christmas gifts. It's never to early to start, right??
Here's what I did.
I started cutting 1 1/2" strips of all different reds, greens and whites.
But I didn't stop there.  I ended up cutting a whole bunch of fabric.

There are more than 50  - 10" squares ,
close to 75, 2 1/2" strips,
 Plus 100  - 4 1/2" squares

Here's what I'm doing with some of the 1 1/2" strips.  The plan is to make table runners/toppers, mug rugs and candle mats for family gifts.  This is just the beginning.   More show and tell later.
Until then happy sewing!

Summer projects

With the summer half over, and my list of summer projects still huge, I may have to re-think what  can get done this year.  Let's suspend reality for just a second,  how cool would it be to be at least 4 people, one to clean house, one to cook, one to run all the errands and one (that's me) to sew and craft and do all the fun stuff with my family.  Wouldn't that be great!  Think about how about much could be done and how many projects wouldn't end up in the donation box.
Now back to reality.  Since that's not going to happen, I'll re-visit my list and pick out the ones I want to do most, and leave the rest for later (much later).  Anyone having the same problem, so many projects so little time?  Let me know so I don't feel like to only one.  Please share!!

Leaves are falling all around

Yes, leaves!  Quiltmaker Scrap Squad is at it again with another great version of "Old Glory".
This time they have used rich fall colors to make me wish for cooler weather.
Cathy Buel, appliques leaves instead of stars and then adds a pumpkin too.
Love the idea.  Hop on over to see the finished quilt.

Pincushion

With being so busy I decided to take a break make something quick and easy just because.
Here's my pincushion.

Do you like it??  I'm happy with it.  The watermelon is made of wool felt.  I love this stuff, so easy to work with.  There are so many cute pincushions out there, I think I need to make a few more.  Does anyone have a collection?  I have a new pattern I haven't made yet, maybe that will be next.
But for now, back to work.

Enter to win a 25 yard roll of  Steam-A-Seam.  Go to the June 27 post and see how, don't forget
