After....

Here it is!  I love how it turned out!!!
It took almost 3 cans of spray paint, but it was worth it!  Check out the glass knobs I found!
Can't wait to put this in my studio.

Before........

OK, I'm not much on yard sales.  I've stopped by a few, but never found that super cool, amazing deal, UNTIL.  One that I stopped at had a beautiful, old desk that caught my eye. It was way over-priced for what it was so I decided to leave.  As I was walking back to the car, I saw this small side table that was looking neglected.  So I bought it for $5.

It's 25" square and needed a lot of help.  I brought it home and went to work.   The paint is drying so I will post the pictures of the "After" by Monday.
Have a great weekend!

Welcome Hoppers!!

Thanks for stopping by!  Blog Hops are always so much fun!  Talking about fun, it was SO much fun being part of Quilting Arts TV Series 1400!!!!!!! The staff was AMAZING!!!!!!  I was really nervous, never being on TV before, but everyone was so kind and made us feel right at home.  There were a bunch of us filming that day, so I was able to meet some other designers.  We arrived early in the morning to get everything ready for the shoot.

Here I am getting all the steps laid out on my table.  I did a demo on using fusible web.
 Time for makeup!
Jeannine from Bernina showing me how to use the machine I would use in the set for the shoot.
Susan Brubaker Knapp, the host of the show,  with me on the set.  It was so cool!!!

We went over the steps a few times before we filmed, to make sure I knew what I was talking about :)

Kathie Stull , me and Katherine.  Right after filming...do I look relived?

The shoot went well, I didn't even mess up ( I don't think so, anyway)
It was such a great experience to be part of this show!
There are some incredible designers on this 1400 series.  You are going to have to check it out for sure!
I was so inspired watching the other guest on the show and wanting to try some of the techniques they were demonstrating.    But that's what it's all about right?!!?  Sharing our talents and creativity with others!
I LOVE the world of quilting!!!  Make sure you catch the episode on your local PBS station.
Hop on over to Lyrics blog to see what she has in store for you.

Alaskan Cruise Day 6

Welcome to Ketchikan!!!
There's no better way to start the day then to go to a Quilt Shop.  This one was fabulous!!!
It's also for sale....the gal that owns it is retiring.  Check it out here.

Just a beautiful place.  I could live there!!...during the summer of course.
That evening we had question the teacher.  It was definitely entertaining!
Some of the questions were:
How many sewing machines do you have?
How many irons?
Do you wash or not wash your fabrics before using them?
Here's my answers - 4, 2, no - generally speaking
How about you?  What are you answers to these questions?

Alaskan Cruise Day 5

Still cruising and lovin' it!!!
Today's port - SITKA!!!!!
We woke up to this scene, isn't it just gorgeous?!

We were tendered into the docks, first time for everything.  There's a lot of people in that boat.

Our first stop.  We have heard so much about the Totem Park that we couldn't wait to see it.
So we started walking on the path.......
and kept walking.....we saw this sign and walked a little faster.  Still no totem poles
The forest was breathtaking.  Still walking....
We stayed on the trail so I know we were in the right place.  We went around bend and ....
there was a totem pole.  Yeah, we found them!!

They were around every turn now.  Some had color, others didn't.  All of them huge and all different.
Here's a very interesting set of three..... the middle one needs a little work.
An old church on the way back into town.  I loved the brick work and the stained glass windows.
I thought that window would make a beautiful quilt block ( always a quilter!)
Next stop, a quilt shop of course!!!  Abby's Reflections in downtown Sitka.
Yep, had to buy a couple of pieces...
and maybe one more. Really!  I need this one too!!!
If you ever go to Sitka, stop by and say Hi! to Jill (the owner) and her crew of quilters
Great shop and fun fabrics!!!
This is an old graveyard.  It was quite a beautiful place.
Very quiet and peaceful.  Moss covered most of the tombstones too.
St Micheal's Cathedral was smack dab in the middle of town.
The roads went on either side of the building.  The bell tower sounded on the hour.
That was cool!!  I loved the sound of the bells
Back on the ship heading out to sea.
We had some company...a sea loin stayed with us for a bit.  It was awesome to
see one so close!!!  We got better video where you can see his face.
Ending our day in Sitka with High Tea and all the quilters.
Great time, again!!!!
