  3. I was in grade school and I remember getting the funkiest doll you ever saw (size of a baby doll). It had yarn hair and an astronaut bubble over it's head. Of course, a kid at school dropped it and broke the plastic bubble and I was heartbroken. If I remember right years later mom told me that this doll was from Dick Tracy comics but I can't say that for sure and I certainly was never a fan of Dick Tracy comics (too old for me). It was certainly not a doll I ever asked for but I loved it for the little bit of time it had it's plastic bubble!!

  5. I honestly can say that I can't remember receiving any strange or funny birthday gifts. The best one I received was a card with the promise of a two week road trip to New England in the fall. Best present EVER!

    Happy Birthday!

  9. I don't really remember any gifts that were funny or strange in a bad way, but I remember one that was strange in a good way. Once when my son was in elementary school he and my husband got me a cookbook all about cakes. A good choice since I love to bake. The strange thing was that they actually baked me a birthday a cake using one of the recipes in the book. They hadn't really baked before, so it was somewhat strange. But the cake was delicious.

  15. Happy Birthday! What a fun surprise to have on your doorstep. I think I would be so giddy. If I did ever get a strange birthday present, I must have erased it from my memory because I can't think of anything right now. :)

  19. never had a strange, odd or funny b-day present, but, being the baker in the family, making the b-day cakes, i always made my own. same cake every year ... cut green gum drop slices to make shamrocks to decorate my cake with. best cake ever for my st paddy's day birthday, even if i put green coloring in my cake batter.
