Fall is on the way...????

Boy, oh boy one of my favorite times of the year! Except the sun doesn't know it and it's getting hot again (ugh!!) We are having almost 90' temps here and it should be cooloer. I'm sooooo done with summer. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy summer, it's just that I'm ready for cooler temps and the change of season. I want to put on flannel pj pants and sip hot spiced cider, not ice water. The leaves in the canyon are changing some and my burning bushes are starting to get a slight shade of red. So I guess I have to be more patient.....I hate being patient! (smile) Oh well, it will happen, but until then...I'll remember life is great.

Double Prizes!!!!

Yep, that's what you heard (well read)

Double Prizes for the winners!!!

This time two people win. What will they win? you ask?... take a look....

6 Halloween fat quarters and a Twist & Turn quilt pattern

to make a cute Halloween throw quilt for the up and coming holiday.

How do you win? Well, let me tell you.

1. You need to be a follower.

2. Tell a friend about my blog and get them to become a follower also.

3. Both of you must be followers.

4. Each of you leaves a quick comment

(example: I'm Margie U.and I got my friend Lisa D. to follow your blog.

Lisa D then comments: I'm Lisa D and I started following because Margie U. )

This is the very important part so I know who is who's friend and who gets to win. Make sure that when you leave your comment you use your first name and last initial, or your user id, or something the identifies you. The more friends you get to follow, the more chances you have to win. (I hope this all makes sense)

5. A comment is randomly chosen and the person who commented and their friend each get the 6 Halloween fat quarters and the Twist & Turn pattern.
This contest goes until Friday evening the 23rd . So don't delay find your friend today and get them to follow so you can both get the prize!! I will announce the winner on Saturday morning. Good luck!

Fall Table Topper Tutorial

OK, here we go. For all of you that have never made a Tossed 9 Patch, this is for you. They are fast and easy. I thought it would be a fun project, (this is my first tossed 9 patch)

To make a Tossed 9 patch Table Topper you need to have one charm pack that has at least 36 - 5" squares. Your table topper will finish about 26 1/2" square. The fabric shown is Moda "Grande Finale" by Sandy Gervais.

Pick out 9 - 5" squares and lay them out as shown. The fabrics in the corners are going to be most prominent in your block once you cut it. Be sure to mix your lights, mediums and darks in the corners of your 9 patch. That way you won't have all the same color showing once you have cut your 9 patch. Note: If you have a fabric that is your least favorite, place that fabric square in the middle.

Sew your 9 patch together. Press your seams. Make 4 - 9 patch blocks.

Take your 9 patch block and cut it in half as shown.

Now, take the cut pieces and cut them in half again. Do this to all the 9 patch blocks. You now have a 16 Tossed block. Note: Now you can see that the fabric that was in the middle of your 9 patch is only a small square.

Take your 16 tossed blocks and lay them out turning them in different directions until you get the desired look. Your layout will be 4 blocks by 4 blocks.

Sew your blocks together in rows

Sew all your rows together. Press your seams as you go. Quilt as you desired. Bind. You now have a fast easy table topper for fall or any other season. (Because charm packs come in all seasons, colors and holidays, the choices are unlimited) Enjoy!!!

If you want to have a bigger quilt use more charm packs. I used two charm packs and used my favorite prints to make my table topper. I chose not to use the blues and purples that are in this fall line. So you see the quilt shown is 5 blocks X 5 blocks.

WARNING: This quilt is so easy that you may not stop at making one, or two or ten. Don't say that I didn't warn you. Smile!!!

Out with the old... I guess

My iron died yesterday. It just stopped working, of course in the middle of a project. I tried everything to get it working again. I was pretty bummed as I couldn't finish my table topper that I plan on doing as a tutorial. I'm buying a new iron today, so I can show ya'll what I've been up to. Keep posted. Have a great day!

O Christams Tree

Look what I did this weekend. Isn't it just too cute!! It was way easy too. I used a art template to trace my circles on fusible webbing. The circles are about quarter size and smaller. I used the webbing so I could get a good clean cut on my circles. I found scraps of Christmas fabrics and just went crazy cutting 49 circles.

After fusing everything down, I added buttons from Hill Creek Designs and some tiny seed beads. With embroidery floss I made some thread snowflakes on some of the circles and there you have it. I had my tree done. It didn't take long at all.

My talented husband made the frame for me. The inside measurement is 8" x 10". So you could use an old frame for this project. I painted the frame with Americana craft paint, color Santa Red (I thought the color was most appropriate) and then sanded it down, I like the distressed look. I finished it with a high gloss spray.

Let me know what you think. Keep watching, I'm going to do a tutorial soon. Until next time just keep sewing, life is a gift.

Can't Decide..

Good morning to ya'll! I hope your weekend is starting out wonderful. I need every ones help in making a decision. OK here's the deal, my fabulous husband built me this amazing table to go at the end of a hallway. The problem is I can't decided how to decorate it. Here's the table

I love it, look at the turned legs and the wood buttons on the skirt. I'm going to paint and distress it, but I want your opinion on which decorations you like best. Then leave a comment with your vote and what you like or dislike or a certain decoration you think would look better together. So here's the options ....

Option A - with the old shutters

Option B - Fall Wreath and pumpkin stitchy

Option C - Fall plate

Option D - Flower arrangement

Option E - pumpkins everywhere

It's still a work in process so help me with it. Remember, leave me a comment with what you like best and or a suggestion on what you would do. Thanks for your help. Have a great weekend.

Sunflowers

I had to show ya'll what I finished. I love sunflowers, so I thought I would try my hand at making one at of wool. I love the feel and the rich color of the gold that I chose. Here it is. I even machine quilted it! It was fun to make and an easy quick project. The mini quilt is 12" x 14". The table stand is from Ackfled Wire, this one has removable top pieces so you can put different ones on for each season. The one showing is the 12" table stand. They have some of the cutest stuff, you have to go check them out.

Super weekend

Hey there! I hope ya'll had a great Labor Day weekend and did something fun. I would love to hear what you did!!!
This is what I did. I started the weekend right by going shopping with my friend. We went to Swiss Days in Midway UT, this is an annual craft show that brings thousands of people to Midaway. Holy cow what an event, it was AWESOME!!!!!!! There were people everywhere. We had fun looking at all the crafts, jewelry, art and home decor booths. We also hit a quilt shop while there, ya know never pass up an opportunity to go to a quilt shop. We spent most of the day there and came home tired and happy.

Saturday had a family get together, Sunday went to church and played games with my family. Monday we all slept in, yes if felt great! My husband and I took our boys up the canyon near our home and shot BBguns and .22 rifles. We played more games and watched movies.
That was my weekend, tell me about yours.
