Have you reviewed all of the classes offered that this year's Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival? We have so many options to choose from and some are already filled to capacity.
You may notice that we have some 3-hour classes as in previous years, but we've also mixed in a few 4-hour classes as well. Don't worry, they are the same price! The longer classes will give you more instruction time as well as more time to work on your project with the instructor there to help! That's an added bonus when working on a new technique. Make sure to check out all the class options we have over the 3 days of festival and remember, class registration includes entrance to Quilt Show as well. You can take a class each day and still have time to shop and view all of the wonderful exhibits we'll have this year.
Sweet As Candy Fusible Quilts
Margie Ullery of Ribbon Candy Quilt Company will fill your world with whimsical, creative and holiday inspired creations. Margie will be teaching 6 fusible web applique classes this year and the projects for these classes are sure to make you smile.
If you want to get into the Christmas mood early this year, check out The First Noel class on August 17. She also has the Happily Ever After class that afternoon where you can make a beautiful quilt fit for royalty. On August 18, she kicks off the day with a Rough and Tumble class sure to please even the toughest dinosaur and truck lover. If you're wise, check out her Whimsical Owls class later that afternoon. Margie's ends the show with two classes on August 19. The first is Witches Brew, sure to put you in a mood for potions. That afternoon, Margie is back in Christmas mood with the
North Pole Express class.

Inspiring Quilt On Display
This year the Rocky Mountain Quilt Festival focuses on celebrating quilts and quilters. There will be many quilt displays and classes for quilters to find inspiration and learn new techniques. One display that attendees will want to make sure to visit is a quilt named, Winter Sunset.
Winter Sunset is a fabric collage mural made by Stepping Stones in Denton, Texas, an occupation-based group for early to moderate-stage persons with Alzheimer's Disease living at home and their caregivers. Now in its 11th year, the all volunteer program provides support and education to caregivers, and a social interaction program for clients.
Winter Sunset is the second large wall mural the group has done. The first was a bright red Cardinal surrounded by leafy branches. A simple spray painter background provides the framework. Clients then glue stick scraps of fabric to the background, much like paint-by-numbers using fabric pieces. A traditional quilt sandwich with backing, batting and multi-layered glue-stuck top is covered with a layer of tulle to keep all the loose edges flat during quilting. Currently, at their suggestion, Stepping Stones participants are working on a companion mural to Winter Sunset which will feature a lake with a sailboat.
Make sure to stop by and view this amazing quilt and learn more about this group at the 2017 Rock Mountain Quilt Festival.
