Scrap Squad strikes again..

The Scrap Squad is a team of talented quilters who are given a challenge.  They are given one pattern from a regular issue of Quiltmaker and  create their own scrappy version for us to see.  They have chosen my quilt "Old Glory" July/Aug issue to use.  Pretty cool huh?! 

You have to see the newest scrappy version of "Old Glory" on the Quiltmakers blog.  Jackie did a fabulous job on this quilt.  Love her idea and applique.  Check it out.

Now, ya'll know how much I LOVE the Steam-A-Seam products, right? Well I do and I use it on all of my projects. It works fabulously on quilts, table topper, wall hangings, everything.

So I thought, how cool it owuld be to do a contest and give some away.

Did this week go fast or what?!  I'm cruising along and BAM it's Friday again.  And it's gonna be HOT, were are looking at temps of 100".  So I'm working this morning and playing this afternoon.  Of course we'll see how much I get to play, you know I have to get the work done first.  Sew, all of you have a fabulous weekend and do something fun.

QM Scrap Squad

Here's something so very cool you need to see. 

Quiltmaker magazine

 has this amazing group of people that are called the Scrap Squad.  They take a quilt from each issue of Quiltmaker magazine and make their own scrappy version of it.  

They have chosen my quilt "Old Glory" of the July/Aug issue to do.  There will be about 7 different versions of the quilt for you to see.  Here is the link for the first one. 

I believe that they will do this once a week.  I'll keep ya'll posted.
Enjoy the great ideas that they will show you. 

Whew..made it through

Boy what a weekend.  I hope ya'll had a nice Father's Day and you were able to spend it with your loved ones.  We played in the pool, eat way to much food and had a family softball game with the whole gang.  It was a blast!!  I played catcher and second base.  And the next day my body didn't hate me too much.   Even after having to dive over one of my boys as he slid into second base (I executed a perfect Captain Kirk roll).    OK, OK maybe not a perfect roll, but I lived through it. smile

I also took some time off, well my computer kind of forced me too.  It kept crashing and not wanting to run right, so I gave it a break.  Speaking of breaks, my youngest decided to break his foot.  Yup! can you believe it??  He's been a trooper about it too.  So, we'll see what this week brings. 

Just remember, life is a gift.

Father's Day cobbler

Just thought I would share one of our favorite Father's Day desserts with you

Blueberry Cobbler

1 1/2 cup flour

1 cup sugar

1 cup milk

1/2 cup shortening

1 tsp salt

3 tsp baking powder

2 cups fresh blueberries

2 cups boiling water

Mix altogether in mixing bowl.  Pour into greased 9 x 13 glass pan.  Spread out the dough so it's even

Spread blueberries on top of the dough.  Sprinkle 1 cup sugar over the berries.  Pour 2 cups boiling water over everything.  Bake at 350' for 35-45 mins (depending on your oven).  The dough will rise to the top.  Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.  Enjoy!

Is summer here yet???

There are days when I think it's here with the 90' temps, but then I get up the next day and it's down in the 60's and windy.  I just wish it would make up it's mind so we can enjoy the

new pool that we bought.  Pretty cool huh? 

OK, well that's not us in the pool, I got this pix off the internet, it's an advertisement.  We need to get it ours all set up and filled (again, don't ask)   But boy oh boy is it going to be used this summer.  We love to be out in the sun and play in the water.  All we'll need then is a tall glass of lemonade and of course a chaise lounge, right?

Can't stop

Do you ever have the feeling that you just can't stop moving and grooving???  Well, I know I do.  I've been like the energizer bunny.....just keep going and going and going.   

 My mind has a hard time shutting off to go to sleep and then I'm up at the crack of dawn trying to get everything done. I have a zillion ideas running around in my head constantly. So maybe I'll just dress all in pink, put on a pair of flip flops and wear my sunglasses, then I'll feel more the part.

or maybe not....but still just keep sewing and posting and folding and shipping and emailing and I just I can't forget about cooking and laundrying (OK, I made that word up) and shopping and baking and running and ............maybe I need a vacation?

That's me...(I never like pictures of myself.) but oh well.

Sassafras by Donna

This last January I taught a couple of classes at Winterfest, Sassafras and Breezy.  Donna was in my Sassafras class and made this quilt.  She sent a picture so I could show all of you.

She did a great job!!  It's so fun to see every ones work.  I love the red flowers.  The fabrics are "Outfoxed" by Lizzy House.

Simply Color

Have you seen this line yet??

It's so absolutely Delicious, I can't wait to get my hands on some of this. 

She did such a fab job on the colors, which of course I love because they are on the bright side.  And the fabrics are so versatile.  You can do bags, quilts, pillows, skirts, dresses, the list is endless. 

The fabrics hit the stores in October.
