Way too much..

Boy, oh boy, did I eat just way too much this last week.  But it was all too good to pass up!!  I mean good grief, we had three Thanksgiving dinners, count them THREE!  Plus the pies that were consumed.  This is a picture of just the pies on Thanksgiving Day.  We had  11 pies and 2 other desserts (one being an extremely rich pumpkin trifle).  Believe it or not there were only 27 of us at this dinner.  Can you tell we LOVE pie!  Our record one Thanksgiving was 14 pies.
Ahhhh the memories.

The other two dinners were smaller ones, but still with all the fixings, and more pie.  It was a wonderful week and weekend with family and food.  I hope ya'll had a great time with your loved ones and reflecting on all we can be grateful for.  There are so many things.
Thanks for being my blog friends!

Christmas Wreath Tutorial

Christmas Wreath Tutorial
Wall hanging 31" x 31"
You need to have 2/3 yard cream background fabric
1/2 yd red for border
various greens for wreath, scraps really
1/4 yd green plaid for binding
Start by cutting 1 1/2" strips from your green fabric.  You need to have 24 - 1 1/2"x 6" strips
and 13 - 1 1/2" x 4" strips.  So you won't have to cut very much.  Use up your scraps.
Cut your background piece to 21 1/2" square.  Find the center of your square and mark it with a water soluble pen.
Layout your 6" pieces in a circle as shown.  Overlap some pieces randomly.  Make sure that you are centered on your background.  Once you have the pieces where you want them, pin them in place.  Note:  If you want, you can use a washable glue stick to tack the pieces down.
Stitch your strips in place sewing 1/8" from the edge.  When you wash your wall hanging, the edges will fray a little and give your wreath a softer look.

Now that you have all the larger pieces sewn in place, you now pin in place the 1 1/2" x 4" strips.

Sew your smaller pieces in place.  Sewing 1/8" from the raw edge.
Borders.  Cut three 5" strips for your red border fabric.  Take one strip and cut it into two
5" x  21 1/2", these are for your side borders
Sew on your side borders using 1/4" seam allowance.  Press
Measure through the center of your wall hanging and cut your top and bottom border to that length.   Sew on the top and bottom borders.  Press.
Sew on bunches of red buttons.  I used Hill Creek Design Cardinal Red buttons, 1/2"and 5/8"

Quilt as desired.  Cut  three 2 1/4" strips for your binding.  Bind using your favorite method and enjoy your wall hanging.
Happy Holidays!!!

Black Friday

Can you believe that stores are advertising their Black Friday sales already?? There are a ton where you can go on-line and preview what will be on sale that day. I just don't think I'm ready for Thanksgiving yet. I still need some more time before the holidays hit.
But at the same time, I'm excited for it all. I mean I love the holiday season, the shopping, baking, cleaning (yes, I have to do deep cleaning around now), shopping some more,
eating yummy chocolaty foods, playing games with my family, seeing all the Christmas lights and just the peace that comes this time of year. So ready or not I guess here it comes.
By the way talking about Black Friday, I'm going to have a sale on my Etsy shop as well. So make sure you check it out. There will be some great deals on fabric bundles, and patterns too.  Here's a sneak peek for you.  Just so you know, I won't wait until Friday to start my sale, tell your friends.  Have a great weekend!

It hits the newsstands Nov 15, WOOHOO!! What a thrill to be included in this awesome magazine with 100 new fabulous block ideas.

When I heard that Quiltmaker was looking for new blocks for Vol 4, the first thing I thought of making was a penguin. It didn't take long to draw something up and go to my stash to find just the perfect fabric to make the little guy. I got it done and sent it in.

I think I actually screamed when I got the email saying that my block made it in the Quiltmakers 100 Block Vol 4.

My block "Just Chillin'" is on page 66.

I'm just losing my mind

Is it just me or has time gone to light speed?! I feel like I'm in a whirlwind that is sucking out time right from under my feet. Am I the only one feeling like this??? I hope not.

I'm actually going Christmas shopping this morning and wondering what in the world happened to the last 10 months. I love the holidays, but they creep up so fast. We woke up to 3 inches of snow on Saturday morning. We broke out the Christmas music too. My family was surprised I waited this long to start playing it. So now we are in full swing with the holidays. I hope you enjoy yours.

Halloweens over?!?

Well another holiday over for the year. Bummer! I love Halloween and so does my family. We plan all year what our costumes are going to be. Here's me and my husband, I'm the one in the red (smile). We have a great time dressing up with our kids and going trick-or-treating. The weather was perfect, cool yet not too cold. We woke up to rain and then snow today. I hope your Halloween was fun and safe. Now on with Thanksgiving. Halloween decor is down and Thanksgiving decor is up. Enjoy the holidays!!!
