National Book Lover's Day!!!

Books. Books, Books, oh how I LOVE books
Since it's Book Lover's Day, (Yeah!!) I would like to share with you the book that really helped
me when I first started quilting.
TA-DA!  Yep, this is it,  The Complete Guide to Quilting
And I'm not kidding!
This one book told me just about everything I needed to know about quilting.
Look at all these sections.  You're bound to find what you are looking for here.
Cutting, Planning, Hand Piecing...it's all inside.
Plus all the charts that are available too.  Love those charts!
A few years back I saw an add in a quilting magazine
for this book.  I thought it would be handy to have so I ordered it that day.
When it came in the mail, I was soo excited, I couldn't wait to dive in and learn.
I read it cover to cover in just a couple of days.
A plethora of information!!
Funny thing is, my friends would call me and ask me questions,
I would pull out my trusty book and viola!, the answers were always right there.
Some other books I got early on in my quilting jounrey, were by
Nancy Halverson.
They got me totally hooked on applique.
When I need a break I grab my Buggy Barn books
and go crazy!.... boy those are addicting!!!!!
My very first book was published this April
How about since it's National Book Lover's Day, we have a give away!!!!
A book of course is the prize, Adorable Animal Applique!

  1. Oh.. my favorite reading book is "Walking on Water: Reflections on art and life" by Madeleine L'Engle. I also love her children's books - the Time Quintet that starts with "A Wrinkle in Time" I have probably read that book cover to cover more times than any other.
I recently read "The Shack" - cried thru most of it. And now I am reading Dirty God. I have hundreds of books on my shelves and on my Kindle. I am really a book lover.
Fave quilting book? hard to say but I do love Ricky Tim's "Convergence Quilts" It is instructional but also wonderful eye candy.

  3. I quilted old school method, cardboard templates and scissors. But when things changed for me was when I bought Debbie Mumm's first hardcover book, it had loads of wall hangings and I just loved how she explained things. Your applique book looks adorable it would be great to have in my library :-)

  8. I love to read! But then I am a Library Aide at our elementary school, I read just about anything. But I think my favorite thing is to curl up in my rocking chair with a few quilting books and just browse through them. Very relaxing! Thanks for the chance to win your fun book, by the way I love your skinnies patterns - so much fun.

  9. I love many kids books. I was a school librarian for many years. My favorite children's book is Scaredy Squirrel by Melanie Watts. It is just so funny. And she's written several follow up books. One of my favorite adult books is The Time Traveler's Wife. (The movie was nothing compared to the book.) I am amazed at how she could have plotted the book as it isn't a linear story as time is disrupted. Very strange, but I liked it. I like most stories with a happy ending. Thanks for the opportunity to win your book.
